Ecolab Inc.’s Ecovation division has announced the installation and start-up of its proprietary whole stillage treatment system at the Maker’s Mark Distillery in Loretto, Kentucky. Ecovation collaborated with Maker’s Mark to design, build and operate the waste stream treatment system that will enable the Maker’s Mark Distillery to significantly recycle its waste stream and generate renewable energy.
If recycling is green, and wind turbines provide green energy, then how green would it be to recycle the wind turbines themselves? That’s the plan for Aeronautica Windpower, a Massachusetts-based company that is hoping to refurbish and find new homes for hundreds of wind turbines that are being retired from the large wind farms of California.
I haven’t heard much about Ocean Energy lately. It would seem to me that on a global scale the ocean would have a lot to offer us for energy development, perhaps with additional benefits while we’re at it. Are there any new developments on that front? — Jason S., Key West, Florida
